Individual hunting methods

The methods of hunting are customized for every single guest and his wishes and requirements. We try to elaborate on special affectations, weapons or even the phyisical situation of our guests. Different kinds of hunting are possible; from still hunting to hunting from strategically determinated points. It is our goal to shoot matured trophies during an unforgettable safari.

The ideal time for hunting

The hunting season lasts from 1st February to 30th November. The ideal time for hunting is between April and September because of the little cooler weather.

Bow hunting

Hunting with a bow is an old tradition in Namibia. Practised by most of the native communities, the most popular kind is from the people from Kalahari, which hunted traditionally with poisoned arrows. Hunting with bows in its modern form was first legalized in 1997 because of the persistend growing of the hunting trade.

Bow hunting is practised in different ways. Hunters can wait for the wild animal on popular places or try to creep. The animal has to be in a distance of aprox. 20 to 30 metres without recognizing the hunter. In generally only shots from the side are given. This is why bow hunting is a very selctive sport which requires self-possession and physical condition from the hunter. Other animals are only little deranged.

An hunting leader, master of hunting or hunter by profession with additive qualifications for bow hunting has to lead the trophy hunter who visits Namibia. Bow hunting for trophies is only allowed on hunting farms which are registered therefore by the ministry for environment and tourism. Shooting licenses for the different kinds of games have to be provided by the organizer. The strength of the bow is prescribed:

Small game - 25ft/lb,
Middle game - 40ft/lb,
Big game - 65ft/lb.
Hunting with dogs is prohibited.
